ASPECTS OF MODERN PORTUGAL, 1640-1986

This course is an introduction to major themes in the modern history of Portugal. There is a weekly lecture and a discussion session. Students are expected to read an assignment, or an approved equivalent, and to make a contribution to the discussion.
Marks: 10% participation.
10% book report, due on first Thursday in October(1000 words).
40% final exam.
40% essay due on third Thursday in November. One mark daily lateness penalty.
An essay of some three thousand (3000) words will be written. This is due on the third Thursday of November.
