Electronic Access to Conference Board of Canada Reports on HR and IR Issues

The Library at the CIRHR offers electronic access to all Conference Board of Canada publications since 1998 under the Human Resource Management theme (defined to include labour relations too). The Conference Board of Canada is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose stated mission is to "build leadership capacity for a better Canada by creating and sharing insights on economic trends, public policy and organizational performance." Their publications are business-oriented and practical: they include the annuals Compensation Outlook, and Industrial Relations Outlook, and surveys and research on topics such as leadership, succession planning, diversity, women in management, training, corporate social responsibility, and more.

Create your account

To make use of this subscription and access the documents on-line, University of Toronto students, faculty and staff must first create an e-Library account at http://www.conferenceboard.ca/boardwiseii/Signin.asp. You must use a "utoronto.ca" email address, create your own password and follow the registration instructions. This is a simple, one-time process that allows you to access the e-Library from the university or from home - as long as you use your utoronto.ca email address.

After registering at the e-Library

Each time you log-on to the e-Library, it is to the whole universe of Conference Board of Canada documents. Since our subscription is only for the Human Resource Management topic area, you must select "Topic" from the left-hand menu, and then from the topic lists presented, select "Human Resource Management". At that point, you will see a list of  documents, and each should say: "no charge, part of your corporate subscription". You may read on-line, print or download the documents. (If you do not select the topic and remain in the complete e-Library collection, you will come upon the same HR-related documents, and they will say "no charge, part of your corporate subscription", but you will have to scroll through all topics and documents from the U.S. Conference Board. These are costly and are not part of the CIRHR subscription). Please feel free to make use of this resource, and feel free to email or visit the library if you have any questions.
