   where deliveries proceed normally.  We'll monitor this situation

    <title>Shutdown of Legacy Mail System</title>

   We're planning a shutdown of the legacy CHASS mail
   system on January 9, 2012.  Effectively, this will close all
   non-migrated mailboxes.

   Currently, all mailboxes that have not been migrated have still
   been accepting inbound mail.  Access to that mail has been removed
   since September 2011, in the hopes of gaining the attention of
   anyone still interested in their CHASS mailboxes.  The changes on
   January 9, will us start rejecting mail for accounts that were not
   migrated.  If you still care to have and access your CHASS mailbox,
   please contact us to arrange a migration.

   On Thursday July 21 between 12:00pm and 5:00pm, the CHASS
   Facility server rooms will be having an electrical capacity upgrade
   performed.  This will require a full shutdown of all systems.

   Although the actual outage should be brief, we cannot accurately
   determine when the electricians will be ready to make the final
   adjustments that require the shutdown.  As such, any time during
   the afternoon hours, you may experience an outage of all CHASS
   services.

      Mail should now be flowing normally again.  The
      problem with inbound mail was identified as a DNS lookup issue
      preventing RBL's from being properly queried.  We are now
      looking at solutions to prevent this from happening in the
      future. The problem lasted for about 4 hours, during
      which time most inbound mail was being temporarily rejected.  It
      should arrive over the next few hours and much of has already
      been received.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

      is an issue looking up remote servers in our real time black
      holes lists.  The cause of the issue is under investigation and

	server reaches levels where the system refuses to accept new

       We experienced an outage of one server last night that affected
       mail and web service for some of our users.
      

      
       The host origin.chass.utoronto.ca failed overnight.  This
       interrupted mail service for users not yet migrated.  It also
       affected the primary CHASS website and personal project sites
       hosted on this machine.
      
      
       As of 8:45am, service has been restored.  We're investigating
       the cause of the failure.  Please let us know if you're still
       having any issues.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

change and your contacts will not notice any difference when sending
mail to you.
